MediumSetup: 15 minutes

Textpattern is a lean, standards-based CMS favoured by writers, journalists, and bloggers who prize simplicity and clean markup. Its article model is straightforward and its template language (Textpattern Markup Language) is elegant. Indexa connects via Textpattern's REST API to publish AI articles directly to your journal.

How it works

  1. 1

Enable the Textpattern REST API by installing the `com_gartner.rest` plugin or using Textpattern 4.8+'s built-in API capabilities.

  2. 2

Create an API user in Textpattern with Publisher or Managing Editor privileges and note the credentials.

  3. 3

Indexa posts new articles to your Textpattern installation, setting section, category, keywords, and custom fields.

Frequently asked questions

Does Textpattern have a built-in REST API?

Textpattern 4.8+ includes basic REST capabilities. For full API access, we recommend the community REST plugin. Indexa is tested against both approaches.

Can I assign articles to specific Textpattern sections?

Yes. In Indexa's integration settings you specify the default Textpattern section for new articles. You can also override this per content calendar entry.

Does Indexa support Textpattern's article status workflow?

Yes. Indexa can publish articles with status Live (4) or Hidden (2) for review. Draft (1) is also supported if you want editorial approval before going live.

How does Indexa handle Textpattern keywords?

Indexa automatically generates a comma-separated keyword list from the article's target keywords and SEO analysis, and passes it to Textpattern's keywords field.
